Week of September 28

 Announcements and Reminders:

• 10/9 - Grandparents' Day - Program starts at 9:00. Dismissal will be afterwards.
• 10/6 - NLCA Literature fair. Note: The setup will now be on the morning of the event, not the day before.
• 10/12 - Professional Learning (No Students)
• 10/20 - Picture Retakes and Volleyball/Club Pictures
• 10/23 - End of 1st 9 Weeks

Sixth Grade Academics:

On Friday, September 25, students were given a handout with the week's Bible memory, the spelling words, and the reading vocabulary.  It should be in their binders and stay there to study.

Tuesday: spelling homework (Write each word twice, definitions once) 

Wednesday: history test. A study guide will go home Monday.

Thursday: spelling trial test + math test

Reminder: tree projects will be due October 19.  Also, students need to be memorizing their one stanza of the poem in the binder for Grandparents' day.

Announcements and Reminders:

September 7: Labor Day. No school.

September 16: NLCA is in session.

September 17,18: Teacher Conference: No school.

September 24: Picture Day. All orders will be online.

Sixth Grade Academics:

    Our regular, weekly quizzes and tests will begin on Friday, August 28.  All students have a printout of the Bible memory verse, the spelling words, and the reading vocabulary words. I told them to keep it in the front pocket of their binders.

    For the spelling test, I will say the words, and they will write them on loose leaf paper. Some of them have definitions that they need to know and also write down, but the spelling of the definition will not be graded. Also, a reasonable definition in their own words is accepted.

    The reading vocabulary is a little different.  These words come from their readers, and they are on the white board.  For the quiz, I will put letters next to the words, so all they need to do is write the letter of the word that goes with the definition I say.

    Lastly, there's a very short language quiz Thursday. All they have to do is underline the subject once and the verb twice.
