Week of September 14

 School Announcements and Reminders

  • September 12: Potato Festival parade. If students want to ride on the float, they need to be at the school at 12:30.
  • September 16: NLCA is in session.
  • September 17,18: Teacher Conference: No school.
  • September 22: progress reports
  • September 24: Picture Day. All orders will be online.
  • October 6: NLCA Literature fair: Please see separate blog for information. All students have told me which books they're doing, and they should be reading them now.

Sixth Grade Academics

On Friday, September 11, students were given a handout with the week's Bible memory, the spelling words, and the reading vocabulary. It should be in their binders and stay there to study.  This handout will be for two weeks, because this week is short. The quizzes and tests won't be until September 25.

Important: Please try to hold on to the study guides for both history and science in the student folders of the binder. You may also wish to keep tests there, too.

New mini-project: Students will choose one tree and collect a leaf or two, maybe a seed, do a bark rubbing, and write a paragraph about it. They'll mount everything on a small poster board. Since they're working on the literature fair, we'll push the due date out to mid-October, but they can be gathering items now.

Tuesday: spelling homework.

Please check back for further information. Thank you!
