Virtual Assignments for Thursday

Third grade families:

I will not be conducting a zoom call today, but I wanted to go ahead and post a few things here for the students to do so that we don't get too far behind. Of course, if they are still sick, this can wait. 

1) Practice the Bible memory verse. It has been in their folders since last week.

2) Write spelling words.

3) Write out the 7 and 8 times tables

4) Finish reading Secret in the Maple Tree, chapter 4.

Week of February 26, 2024

 Announcement and  Reminders :

• Friday, March 1 - A special celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday!  Students may dress as their favorite Seuss character, if they want to.
• March 15 - No School (Teacher Professional Development Day) 
• March 19 - End of Third Nine Weeks 
• March 28 - Early Out (Dismiss at 11:30) 
• March 29 - April 5 - No School (Spring Break) 
• April 19 - Early Out (Dismiss at 11:30) 

Academics this week, subject to change as needed:

• Reading homework this week: Secret in the Maple Tree, chapter 4.  Remember, this book is exclusively for homework and class discussion.  They have all week to read it aloud to an adult, and the book may stay in their backpacks.  I still need a parent to initial the homework assignment in the take-home folder, please.
• Students need to learn multiplication facts up to 8 x 12. 
• Wednesday:  math quiz over 6, 7, and 8 x facts and fractional parts of numbers ( 1/3 of 30, 1/4 of 16, etc.)
• Wednesday:  language quiz over contractions.
• Spelling:  homework Tuesday, trial test Thursday, second chance test Friday. (Spelling words are always in the take home folder insert.)
• Bible memory quiz Friday. (Verses are also in the take home folder insert.)
• Friday: history test.  Study guide will come home Tuesday.

• Valentine's Day party on Wednesday, during lunch. Students may bring those little exchange cards, if they want, and I'll send the names via DoJo.

• UPDATE: Since Tuesday was a snow day: We'll try to make up the math quiz Wednesday.
• Thursday: history test. There was a lot of noise from other classes, so I decided to push it out.
• Spelling:  no homework since Tuesday was a snow day, trial test Thursday, second chance test Friday.
• Friday: short language quiz on diagramming subjects and verbs
• Bible memory quiz Friday: Psalm 121:1-3.

• Monday:  science test. Study guide went home last Thursday. 
• Students need to know multiplication facts up to 7 x 12.  They'll begin working on the eights this week.
• Wednesday:  math test.  The bonus pages (175, 176) are due by Wednesday, February 14.
