Week of January 2, 2024

       I hope everyone has stayed healthy and enjoyed the break. The students will have their gift exchange when they return. The Christmas lights are gone, but the classroom is now decorated with snowflakes and snowmen, and I hope the students enjoy it. We'll try to get back into a normal routine. 

Announcement and  Reminders :

• Students return on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
• No school on Monday, Jan. 15: MLK Jr. Day
• End of the second nine weeks is Jan. 16.

Academics this week, subject to change as needed:

• No reading homework
• Spelling homework Tuesday, trial test Thursday, second chance test Friday
• Math test Thursday
• Memory verse quiz Friday
• Language test Friday

Week of December 18, 2023

 Announcements and Reminders:

• Monday, December 18: Due to the possibility of inclement weather Tuesday, the class party has been moved a day early, in the afternoon. We'll play a couple of games and sip on hot cocoa while watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. We'll do a gift exchange and the limit will be $15. If you don't have your gift exchange item, don't worry. We will just do it when we are together again.
• Wednesday, December 20: no school due to the power company working on nearby transformers.
• December 20 - January 1:  Christmas Break!
• Students return on Tuesday, January 2.

Academics (subject to change as needed)

• We might try to go back and pick up a short math quiz that we didn't have time for during play week, and it has the 6 x table facts on it.  There will be a math test in January, but we'll review for that after the break, too.
• No other homework or tests.

Week of December 11, 2023

 Announcements and Reminders:

• Tuesday, December 12: dress rehearsal.  Students don't need to wear their black clothes until Wednesday and Thursday.
• Thursday, December 14: Christmas play at 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM.  Please bring them to school at the normal time. They will go back to the classroom after the morning performance, be signed out, leave their costumes, and be dismissed.   Please have them back at school at 6:15 PM. 
• Friday, December 15: The dress-up theme for this day is now "Favorite Christmas Character."  It was switched with the 19th, which is now "Ugly Sweater."
• Tuesday, December 19: Class party in the afternoon. We'll play a couple of games and sip on hot cocoa while watching A Charlie Brown Christmas. We'll do a gift exchange by drawing names ahead of time, and the limit will be $15. 
• Wednesday, December 20: no school due to the power company working on nearby transformers.
• December 21 - January 1:  Christmas Break!

Academics (subject to change as needed)

• Due to play practice, teachers have been advised not to assign homework or give tests and quizzes this week.
• No spelling homework this week.  We will be working with a list of Christmas-themed words, but they'll write sentences (open-book) on Friday in lieu of a test.
