Week of October 31

Friday, October 28 was our fiftieth day of school, so the students wore "50 days" badges.

Proud moment:  Students were asked to compose declarative sentences with compound words, and they did so successfully, but also added in similes!  I was so pleased that they are learning so much.

Reminders and announcements this week:

  • Monday, October 31:  "sponsor a day" calendar fundraiser due.  Thanks in advance for helping us to raise much-needed funds!
  • Friday, November 4: No students on campus. A small, fun packet will be sent home, and they will need to return it on Monday.
  • November 11:  Veterans' Day, no school
  • November 21-25:  Thanksgiving break

Academics this week:
  • Monday:  science quiz (study guide in folders on Friday)
  • Monday:  reading homework: students reread from science books, page 105, then page 121.
  • Wednesday:  science test (study guide was with the one for the quiz.)
  • Spelling: List 11.  They still have homework on Tuesday, but no test this week.  In class, they will write sentences using spelling words, and I will grade that instead.
  • Memory verse dates have been changed on the printout in the take home folders. We will be working on Psalm 23:1-5 all week, but the quiz won't be until next Thursday, and then we should finish the psalm right before Thanksgiving break.
