Week of May 16

Can you believe we've made it this far?  The end of third grade is finally here. It has been a lot of work for all of us, and I want you to know I'm already shedding tears over this end of my time with your children!  Thank you for all of your support and help at home!  I may create one last blog next week, but for now:

  • field trip to Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park on Monday!  We'll be given a 10:00 tour and learn what happened there during the Civil War, then we'll eat lunch, then we'll play on the playground.
  • REMEMBER TO PACK A LUNCH MONDAY
  • One last language test Tuesday.  A workbook page went home Friday with the material.
  • CAMP DAY on Thursday!  We'll be doing learning activities that have a camping theme, and we'll do a little reading by FLASHLIGHT, so please send one in, along with something to sit on, such as a small blanket.  (As of Friday, I haven't even told the kids yet.)
  • Awards on Friday morning, in our classroom!
  • We'll probably pack up and clean up on Friday, too.

Week of May 2

 A few important notes:

  • Last school library time for the year is this Tuesday. Please make sure you don't have any school library books at home.
  • SAT-10 testing will be May 10-12.  (We will try to do a few lessons, but there will NOT be any other tests that week.)
  • last day for students: Monday, May 23.

Academics:
  • Bible memory this week: Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
  • Spelling is list 31.  I already put it in the center of the folders of the ones who were here.  Homework Tuesday, trial test Thursday, final test Friday, as usual.
  • Reading homework this week:  Secret in the Maple Tree, chapter 13.
  • In math, we have moved up to the ten and eleven multiplication tables, so please practice all of them at home, if necessary.
  • Math test Tuesday, and workbook pages 255, 256 are bonus.
  • History test Wednesday
  • Health test Friday
Here are the due dates for the rest of the sections for the Animal Notebook.  As a reminder, the pictures may be from the science notebook itself, the internet, magazines, stickers, or hand-drawn. They do NOT have to write reports, but should write the characteristics of each.  I would like to see at least two pictures for each page.

Birds and Reptiles:  Monday, May 2
Amphibians and Invertebrates:  Monday, May 9

As always, thank you for all you do at home!
