Week of November 29

I hope everyone enjoyed some much-needed time away from school.  With only a little over three weeks to go until Christmas break, I'm sure time will fly!  Our classroom now has a little Christmas tree, a Charlie Brown Christmas bulletin board, and more to come.  The teachers have really gone all-out and the hallways are looking very festive!

Here are a few bits of important information:

⭐This Tuesday evening:  Parent-Teacher conferences.  Please reach me by email, Class DoJo, or by calling the school office if you want to meet or talk over the phone.

⭐Next Thursday, December 9:  Christmas drive-through, 6:30-8:30 PM.

Academics:

  • Memory Verse:  "In him was life; and the life was the light of men."  John 1:4
  • Spelling:  List 15.  As usual, homework Tuesday evening, trial test Thursday, final test Friday.
  • Language Quiz on Wednesday, mostly over proper comma usage.
  • History Quiz MOVED TO FRIDAY.  Since we were out for a week, it will be an open-book, classwork assignment that I will use as a classwork grade, not as heavily weighted as a quiz.  There is, however, a big test coming next Monday!  Please watch for the study guide in your child's folder.
  • Please keep practicing those multiplication tables through 6, if possible.

Week of November 15

We have a full and busy week planned before the Thanksgiving break.
Here are a few highlights:

Academics:

  • Spelling list 13 (skipping list 12 in order to get the Thanksgiving word list)
  • Bible memory is 1 Chronicles 16:34   "O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever."
  • Math test Monday. The daily workbook pages should prepare the students for this, but we'll do some warm-up and review before they start the test.
  • Reading homework Monday night will be a passage from the science book, and they'll have the page numbers on a sticky note, as before.
  • Science test on Tuesday. Study guides came home Friday.

Thanksgiving party:
We'll have a little game and watch "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" before dismissal on Friday.

As always, please contact me via ClassDojo, email (jbrammer@nlca.info), or call the school.

I am thankful for you and your family!

Reminders

A few reminders:

If your family is putting together a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child, we are asking for those to be brought in this Friday the 12th.

The "turkey in disguise" papers are also due Friday. I can't wait to see them!

No spelling test this week. Next week, we'll jump to list 13 because it has several Thanksgiving related words.

We do have a Bible verse this Friday.  "Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice." Philippians 4:4

Week of November 8

This week will be unusual, for sure, but I'll do my best to make sure your kiddos learn as much as possible and have a little fun, too.  😊

👉No school Wednesday.  Teacher in-service.

👉No school Thursday:  Veterans' Day.

👉 Our classroom is very warm (which I love!) so it's great that you've been dressing the kids in layers.

👉 Remember that anyone who arrives after 8:00 AM is tardy.  I know mornings can be crazy;  it's just a friendly reminder.

Academics:

  • No spelling test this week.
  • Bible memory is Philippians 4:4   "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice."
  • Language test Tuesday.  It is cumulative, so it will cover subjects and predicates, plurals, and possessives.
May God bless you and your family!
