The optional dress-up themes are in the previous blog, but I will mention them here, too.

Week of February 21

Monday:

  • Language test over subject and verb identification and proper verb usage when there is a helping verb.  The students brought home a language quiz Friday with similar material.
  • Science test over food chains and habitats.  They received a study guide.
  • Reading homework:  pages 85-87. As always, please listen to your child read the pages out loud to you.
Since Monday is Presidents' Day, we'll talk about the holiday and watch a couple of short videos.

Tuesday:
Spring pictures!
Also, it's Tuesday, February 22, 2022, so we'll have a fun "2's Day" activity or two.

Thursday:
  • Math test.  You may want to look over the daily math workbook pages with your child, because you'll see the material and types of questions that will be on the test.
  • Spelling trial, as usual.  List 22.
Friday:
  • Bible memory verse quiz:  Proverbs 16:18
  • Spelling final test.

Non-Traditional Learning Assignment

 Happy Valentine's Day!

We'll have our class party on Tuesday.

Here are a few easy-peasy things for you to do today, due no later than Wednesday:

  • Begin memorizing this week's memory verse:  "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"  Colossians 3:23
  • Neatly write spelling words, list 21, numbers 1-23, just like you do for Tuesday homework. (They're in the center of the take home folder, and they'll be on spelligcity.com, too.  https://www.spellingcity.com/users/MrsBrammer )
  • Neatly write the multiplication tables for the threes and fours, starting with 3 x 0 = 0 and proceeding up to 12. Be prepared for a test over those two on Wednesday.

Also, if you decide to be a snow day reader (read silently for half an hour), you will earn something from the prize box.

Third graders, be a blessing to someone else today!  Find a way to show you love someone by setting the table, tidying your room, or helping out in some way.

Week of February 14

Thank you for all the generous donations that you sent in for the "Spot the Dot" fundraiser!

Updated Reminders:

  • Valentine's Day class party Tuesday, around 1:30.  Students will exchange cards, if they want to, and then we'll have a little treat with "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown."
  • Early dismissal Wednesday (12:30 vans and around 12:40 cars) !
Academics:
  • Spelling list 21.  Homework Tuesday night, trial test Thursday, final test Friday.  They'll still have numbers 1-23, but this week, since there is no word family pattern, the last three words AND definitions count for bonus.  The list is already in the center of their take-home folders.
  • The students will be tested on just the times tables, and the first test over the threes and fours will be this Wednesday.
  • Science test Friday or possibly the following Monday, over animal habitats and food chains.  Watch for a study guide, as usual.

Week of February 7

Homecoming Week / Spirit Week!

There are special (optional) fun dress-up days all week!

Monday:

  • Opposite Day (something that doesn't fit your style or personality.)  Mrs. Brammer might not have light-colored, longish hair.
  • Bible memory quiz that was originally scheduled for last Friday.
  • Spelling Final for those who didn't earn an A last Thursday. (That list was a doozy!  I know!)
  • Math test that was originally scheduled for last Friday.
Tuesday:
  • Favorite College Day
Wednesday:
  • Formal Day
Thursday:
  • Decade Day (1970's for Mrs. Brammer! I can't wait to see what decade you choose.)
  • Spelling Trial, list 20.  Please see note below.
Friday:
  • School Colors / Spirit Day
  • Memory Verse quiz, Psalm 121:2
  • Spelling final test, list 20.
About the spelling lists:
You may have noticed that the number of spelling words has jumped to 25, the last 5 being vocabulary.
However, we are going to stick with just doing 23 words, with the vocabulary definitions still being 3 bonus points each.
I am still putting the lists on spellingcity.com.  Here is the link:
https://www.spellingcity.com/users/MrsBrammer

Speaking of websites, please feel free to have your student hop on www.startpracticing.com with the login information that they brought home.  You will remember that I also sent each of you a picture of that login page via ClassDojo when we were on remote learning.

Another fun website reminder:  www.timestables.com
We are up to the sevens now, so even asking your child to tell you the seven times table when you're riding in the car might help.

On Valentine's Day, the students may bring in their own Valentine "mailbox," or whatever they want to use to hold valentines from friends.

As always, please feel free to contact me through ClassDojo or email.
Thank you for reading all of this!
