Week of March 7

Hello, families of third graders!  It sure was nice to take the students outside for recess last week.  Looks like rain is in the forecast for this week.  Here are some other things coming:

  • Language test Monday.  I actually typed up a study guide for this one and it should be in your child's folder.
  • History test Monday.  There is also a study guide for this one.  I encouraged the students to take home their history books, too.
  • Science quiz Tuesday.  No study guide, but we will go over the material in class.
  • Math test Wednesday.  The best way to prepare for that would be to go over the daily workbook pages with your child.
  • Spelling test will be a review list.  It's list 24, and it's already in your child's take home folder.  I will grade 1-20, and 21-25 will be for bonus, BOTH the words and the definitions. (Homework Tuesday night, as usual.)
The reading homework is changing a little bit:  This week, they'll be bringing home a sweet chapter book called Secret in the Maple Tree.  I will assign a chapter each week, so you can break it up and read a little at a time, as long as it's done before Friday, when I will ask them questions about what they read.  We will be reading another book at school, so Secret in the Maple Tree is just to read with you at home.  It's a story I remember enjoying with third grade students way back in 1990-something in Ohio.

For the month of March, we'll be focusing on missions in our chapel services. Mrs. Eades has lined up special guest speakers, and she also prepared little baggies for the children to bring in any missions donations, if they want to.  I will send those home tomorrow.

Lastly, please remember about the test prep website, startpracticing.com.
