Week of September 26

Third grade families:

The students had fun at Farm Safety Day, and I think they may have learned a tip or two about staying safe.  One of the presenters recommended that they memorize their home address, so if your child still can't tell someone where they live, that would be a good goal.

Here are a few reminders:

  • September 26:  Johnny Appleseed Day.  (We'll probably watch a short video and read about him.)
  • September 28:  See You at the Pole (The student body will gather to pray.)
  • October 7: Grandparents' Day!  We will need parental help with costumes.  I allowed the students to choose, and all five want to be native Americans.  They don't have to be elaborate, but the whole school is doing a living museum.  The program starts at 10:00 in the new gym. They may be signed out by their grandparents, and if not, they'll be dismissed at 12:15.
  • Monday, October 10: No school!
  • October 12: NLCA literature fair.  Students should be finishing the book they chose now, and planning their displays.
  • October 24: end of the first 9 weeks!

Academics this week:
  • Monday:  reading homework:  15 minutes of oral reading in the book they chose for the literature fair. If they're already finished, they may read something of their choice, but they still have to read the 15 minutes.
  • Tuesday:  math test.  Workbook page 55/56 can be done for up to 10 bonus points.
  • Thursday:  language quiz  (To prepare for this, go over workbook pages that they bring home.)
  • Spelling homework Tuesday, trial test Thursday, and final test Friday, list 6.
  • Friday:  memory verse quiz on Proverbs 3:6.
